$2.4M in federal funds have been set aside to establish the North Carolina Cancer and Genomics Research Center (CGRC) at UNC which will focus on preclinical mouse models of cancer and identifying genetic signatures to improve diagnosis and treatment.  The center, directed by Terry Van Dyke, Sarah Graham Kenan Professor of Genetics, will be the lead institution in the DOD’s National Functional Genomics Center Research Consortium. Senator Elizabeth Dole recently visited the Lineberger Cancer to announce nearly $4M in federal funds for 2008 that will support research initiatives at UNC Chapel Hill including the CGRC.
