For the third consecutive year, the Developmental Biology Training Program has organized an outstanding and well-attended symposium, highlighting research from the UNC developmental biology community and featuring a keynote presentation from Dr. Nipam Patel, Professor of Genetics and Development at UC Berkeley, and Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Dr. Patel is a prolific and internationally recognized scientist who has made seminal contributions toward understanding the evolution of development. The symposium took place on March 29 at the George Watts Hill Alumni Center with a full-day of talks and poster sessions by DevBio trainees and faculty.  A total of about 90 students, postdocs, and faculty attended the event sponsored by the CCGS and supported in part by a grant from the National Institute of Child Health & Development (NIH).
