The University has officially approved Brad Hemminger’s promotion to Associate Professor with tenure in the School of Information and Library Science.  Dr. Hemminger’s history at UNC-CH goes back to 1982 when he began as a research assistant in the Department of Radiology while working toward his master’s degree in computer science.  After receiving his degree in 1985, he continued his research in Radiology for the next fifteen years and also worked toward his PhD in computer science from the University of Utrecht (Netherlands), which he received in 2001. Since then he has developed a productive research program as a faculty member at UNC-CH in the areas of informatics, digital libraries, and information visualization. Dr. Hemminger has made significant contributions to several CCGS research and training initiatives over the past six years, most notably the Bioinformatics & Computational Biology Training Program and the recently established Biomedical Informatics Research, Service, and Training Program (co-sponsored by the Health Sciences Library).
