As of July 1, 2006, Zhen Lin will begin her appointment as Research Assistant Professor in the School of Nursing with a joint appointment in CCGS.  Dr. Lin is a registered nurse with graduate training in both cardiovascular nursing and biomedical informatics.  She received her PhD in biomedical informatics at Stanford University in 2005 under the mentorship of Dr. Russ Altman.  For her dissertation, Dr. Lin developed automatic algorithms to analyze and control disclosure risk in disseminating genomic data from public databases.  In addition to genetic privacy issues, her research interests include SNP analysis toward understanding the genetic basis of human disease.  Dr. Lin’s interdisciplinary research will undoubtedly generate collaborative interest among a variety of CCGS faculty.
