August 2, 2007 The University has officially approved Ivan Rusyn's promotion to Associate Professor with tenure in the Department of Environmental Sciences and Engineering in the School of Public Health. Dr. Rusyn received his PhD in 2000 from UNC's Curriculum in Toxicology under the direction of the late Dr. Ronald Thurman. He completed his postdoctoral work with Dr. James Swenberg (UNC-CH) and Dr. Leona Samson (MIT). Dr. Rusyn was recruited back to UNC as a faculty member in 2002. Since then he has been an active member of the CCGS and several other research centers across campus including the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center, the Bowles Center for Alcohol Studies, and the Center for Environmental Health and Susceptibility. He also serves as Scientific Co-Director of the Carolina Environmental Bioinformatics Center. The Rusyn lab applies molecular, biochemical, genetic and genomics approaches toward understanding the mechanisms of environmental chemical-related diseases. |
