The promotion of CCGS researcher Wei Wang to Associate Professor with
tenure has been approved as of fall 2005 in the Department of Computer
Science. Her
promotion follows a string of recent awards and honors including an
NSF Faculty Early Career Development Award and a Microsoft Research
New Faculty Fellowship. Dr. Wang received her PhD in computer
science in 1999 from the University of California at Los Angeles. She
then spent three years as a research staff member at the IBM T. J. Watson
Research Center. Since July 2002, she has been at UNC-Chapel Hill
developing new data models and algorithms for data mining and bioinformatics. Wang
