When bitten by a genetically modified spider, a nerdy, shy, and akward high school student gains spider-like abilities that he eventually must use to fight evil as a superhero after tragedy befalls his family. Is there a future in genetically enhancing or engineering human beings? What responsibilities should come with this type of technology?

Following the movie, Dr. James Evans, Associate Proffessor at UNC Chapel Hill, will lead a discussion about the science in the movie and about the ethical implications of such technology.
