Myra Roche, M.S., C.G.C. is an Associate Professor in Pediatrics, a Certified Genetic Counselor, and a Bilbro Ethics Fellow in the Parr Center for Ethics. Her clinical and research interests include families' understanding of genetic counseling and the use of multimedia in web-based, science education. She was a co-investigator in the ELSI-funded project, Cultural and Family Interpretations of Genetic Disorders and project manager for Genetic Services for Congenital Hearing Loss funded by the AAMC and CDC. Her most recent publications include chapters on Genetic Counseling Considerations in Molecular Diagnosis, Ethical Theory and Bioethical Principles, and Autonomy, Informed Consent, and Decisional Capacity. She is co-editor of the recent edition of An Ethics Casebook for Genetic Counselors: Ethical Discourse for the Practice of Genetic Counseling sponsored by a grant from the National Society of Genetic Counselors and used in genetic counseling training programs across the country. She also wrote the multimedia script for an interactive, experimentally-based module, Analysis of Transcriptomes, that demonstrates how DNA microarrays can be used to study cell division.
